Sustainability is an integral part of our day-to-day work

Organic & FairTrade certified products

We are committed to contributing to a better world for people and nature.

Through our sustainable programs and certifications (such as Organic and FairTrade), we support farmers who look after their workers and natural resources. We hold FairTrade certification, as well as organic certification for both the EU and the US market.

SEDEX: Sourcing responsibly

As a Sedex member, we are part of a community of businesses working to improve ethical standards, responsible sourcing and working conditions across their supply chains.

We receive regular SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) audits, one of the most widely used social audit methodologies. These audits help us to asses our supplier sites, monitor the health and safety for all of our workers and signal zero tolerance of any human rights abuses.

We use the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Base Code as the guideline for our practices.

Sustainable Vanilla Initiative

We are a founding member of the Sustainable Vanilla Initiative (SVI), launched in 2015. Together with all other members, representing over 70% of the global vanilla market, we aim to promote the long-term stable supply of high-quality, natural vanilla, produced in a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable way.

SVI is a voluntary industry initiative which works to bring innovative solutions to the market challenges within the vanilla industry through a comprehensive strategy addressing vanilla’s complex supply chain in producing countries, covering sector governance, farmer living income, forest protection and child labor.

Security & Traceability

To assist us in securing the entire supply chain of our Madagascan vanilla we have established the Macky Association. It is a farmers’ association in Madagascar. Not only do we want to make sure our vanilla is traceable and sustainable, but we also want to understand the challenges faced by the farmers. By empowering them to run their farms in a sustainable way and to be more financially resilient in a volatile market, we know that the result will be better quality, guilt-free products.

We have registered all of the farmers including their production, their working conditions, their certifications, and their payments using a digital system developed by Metajua and Ecocert. This system simplifies the traceability of our vanilla beans.
