Renewing our Certifications
Thanks to the diligent efforts of our quality team, both on-site and at our headquarters, our certifications in Madagascar were successfully renewed at the end of 2023 in preparation for the 2024 campaign.
As a result, we are proud to maintain our official certifications in Organic, Fair Trade, and Rainforest Alliance™, underscoring our commitment to a sustainable and equitable supply chain for our vanilla products.
These certification standards are integral to our strategy, affirming our ongoing pursuit of improvement, particularly in sustainability and quality.
Macky Farmer Association : Sustaining local efforts
Four years since its creation, the farmers’ association we established with Sambavanille in Madagascar has flourished, now comprising 2,000 educated, trained and supported farmers. Our dedicated local team has consistently and closely collaborated with the farming community leaders to ensure a rigorous implementation of sustainability practices and certifications standards, such as Organic and FairTrade.
In addition to providing genuine financial support to uphold both the quality of vanilla products and the living conditions of farmers, particularly during intercrop periods, the Macky Association imparts essential educational values and tools to the community. This includes ongoing technical training on cultivation techniques (aligned with evolving certification standards), as well as geolocation tools for traceability, and survey questionnaires.
Each of these initiatives and adjustments, closely monitored by our team on the ground, represents significant steps towards our global objectives : Providing quality vanilla products that are fair to farmers, sustainable throughout the entire supply-chain and traceable.
Social initiatives : Making a difference in local communities
In line with our in-depth work with the Macky Association, our local efforts extend beyond the agricultural sector to positively impact the livelihood of communities in Madagascar. The public primary school in Ambohimanarina, established and inaugurated in October 2020 with support from The Monchy Trivium Foundation, has been operational for 4 years, receiving more than 500 children and employing teachers and educators from the SAVA area.
As De Monchy Natural Products, we remain committed to supporting the school, by providing the necessary ongoing assistance to maintain and improve its facilities. Currently, significant progress is continuously being made to further improve the quality of education provided at the school.
We are consistently planning and exploring new social projects to bolster support for local communities at our sourcing countries and regions, and we will make sure to share updates about it in due time.
Exporting our Sustainability practices Globally
Each of these initiatives has demonstrated its ability to create meaningful and positive impacts on Madagascar and its communities. While Madagascar remains central to our operations, it serves as a blueprint for our sustainability projects across the numerous sourcing origins we are located at.
We aspire to extend our successful sustainability initiatives to other regions where we operate, leveraging the expertise gained from our achievements in Madagascar. This is what we have started to do in the West Java region in Indonesia, with our vaccination and food distribution program for local residents in 2022. More projects are in the works to support our sustainability and traceability goals in the Indonesian archipelago.
